HR Advisor - The University of Surrey

Location: Stag Hill & Manor Park Campuses, Guildford, Surrey

Working Style - Hybrid - 2/3 days per week on site

Contract Type: Full-time FTC 12/15 months

Salary: 38,000 to 45,000 pro rata

Tate Recruitment are working with The University of Surrey to seek a proactive and knowledgeable HR Advisor to join their collaborative HR Advisory team. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the employee experience, drive continuous improvement, and support the delivery of strategic People Plans across the University.

About the Role

As an HR Advisor, you'll be at the heart of their employee relations landscape, providing expert guidance, managing complex cases, and supporting the implementation of key HR initiatives. You'll work closely with HR Business Partners and specialist teams to ensure their people practices are legally sound, strategically aligned, and culturally enriching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert advice on employment law, HR policies, and procedures
  • Lead on conflict resolution and employee relations case management
  • Support change initiatives including TUPE and organisational development
  • Coach and develop managers in effective people management and leadership
  • Collaborate on central HR projects and policy development
  • Ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement in HR practices
What We're Looking For
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law
  • Proven experience in employee relations and HR advisory roles, ideally within Health or Education sectors
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels
  • Ability to manage a varied workload with autonomy and agility
