Post: Housekeeper (fixed term contract)

Salary: £23,874 (Full Time Equivalent based on 37.5 hours)

Job Family: Operational Support Services Range: A

Location: Ashgate Hospice, Chesterfield

Hours: 34 hours per week with a fixed working pattern including Saturday and Sunday on a rota basis (one in three weekends). Typical morning shift hours are 07:30–12:30; morning late shift 07:30–15:00 on weekdays and 07:30–12:30 on weekends. Flexibility may be required to provide cover on an ad hoc basis.

Are you an experienced housekeeper who takes pride in making spaces clean, safe and welcoming? Join our hospice team and play a vital role in supporting patients, families and staff, helping everyone feel cared for and at home.

This is a fixed-term role until 1st March 2026 while we confirm funding, with potential for extension depending on circumstances at the end of the initial term.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the hospice, including patient rooms, clinical spaces and public areas.
  • Carrying out deep cleans following patient discharge and ensuring ongoing hygiene compliance.
  • Restocking essential supplies such as hand towels, soap and toilet rolls.
  • Assisting colleagues with tasks including bed‑making, curtain washing and floor care.
  • Following all safety and infection control guidelines to contribute to a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Interacting respectfully with patients, visitors and colleagues, providing support where needed.

Ashgate Hospice, based in North Derbyshire, offers free palliative and end‑of‑life care for adults with life‑limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases and advanced heart, kidney and lung conditions.
