Job description
Overview

A wonderful opportunity for a kind and thoughtful housekeeper with a passion for heritage. Located within the South Downs National Park, Rotherfield is a progressive estate, taking the best of the old and the new to create a well-cared for, healthy and self-sufficient community, where employment is not solely dependent on agriculture or local economic conditions.

There are around 35 people working at Rotherfield across different teams to enhance our community and the beautiful surroundings. The House team play an important role in interacting and supporting our community. Help us build ‘a thriving for community for today and tomorrow' and join our team where Honesty, Empathy, All-in, Readiness and Thoughtfulness (H.E.A.R.T.) is behind every action.

Role: As Housekeeper you are an important member of our Rotherfield family. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in hundreds of years of history. Unlike regular housekeeping roles this role incorporates the preservation of a historical house and its contents as well as opportunities to help with nanny duties or get involved with other projects on the Estate. You will be supported by a cook, head of house, an external conservation specialist, a French polisher, textiles expert and in-house archivist. This is a full-time role with accommodation. The right candidate will bring their positive energy and ideas to a team where kindness and thoughtfulness is at the heart of all they do. There will be plenty of opportunity to develop skills and learn; we encourage it.

Responsibilities:

  • Household cleaning
  • Heritage conservation and contents management
  • Office cleaning
  • Occasional entertaining/support on hosting (with advanced notice)
  • General housekeeping – cleaning, washing and ironing
  • Working alternate Christmases and some weekend work

Requirements:

  • Heritage cleaning experience desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A team player who is flexible and adaptable and works well under pressure
  • Ability to work with the utmost discretion
  • Willingness to upskill and share knowledge

Benefits:

  • Great team!
  • Generous pension contributions
  • Housing provided
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Occupational and Wellbeing Health Checks
  • Salary dependent on your desired role, hours and experience
