Job description
Overview

This UK-based role is on-site at our College. Class times are between 19:00 and 21:00. To comply with mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK-based People Services Department. This position involves safeguarding responsibilities under the Protection of Children & Young Persons (The Children\'s Act 1989). An Enhanced DBS check is required as the role involves Regulated Activity. By applying, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations. Offers of appointment are subject to DBS checks, a certificate of good conduct if applicable, satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, and qualifications verification. It is an offence to apply if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

Prior to starting, there may be additional checks including Barred List check, right to work check, internet search, and TRA check for academic posts. This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching – contribute to the teaching programme delivering the subject.
  • Preparation and Assessment – develop and produce teaching materials, complete relevant planning and assessment paperwork, undertake assessment, develop a scheme, and keep accurate records.
  • Administration – undertake administrative tasks related to the programmes taught and College requirements under the guidance of the Head of Department.
  • Quality Systems – undertake Internal Verification as required by the line manager; participate in the College\'s lesson observation process and have an observed lesson each academic year.
  • Health and Safety – ensure a safe working environment for colleagues, students and visitors in line with the HASAW Act and College Health and Safety Policy.
  • Safeguarding – safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and whom you come into contact with.

Offers of work will be conditional upon mandatory pre-employment checks, including but not limited to: DBS, Barred List check, right to work check, internet search, and TRA check (academic posts).

Essential Attainments
  • A degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English or willingness to achieve within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Full teaching qualification or willingness to gain the PTTLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) within one year of appointment, plus the Certificate or Diploma in Teaching within 5 years of appointment to the College.
  • Previous experience in a relevant area (either commercial, industrial and/or teaching).
  • Willingness to undertake continuing professional development.
  • Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, internet and other software applications.
  • Previous successful teaching experience within an appropriate area.
  • Proven success in supporting students and optimising student performance.
Desirable Attainments
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge to teach a range of topics in the specified subject.
