Job description
About the Homeless Resettlement Officer Role

An exciting full‑time, permanent position with the Homeless Pathways Team based in the Community Hub, Trinity, Maidstone. The officer will manage a caseload of housing duty cases, assess clients’ circumstances and barriers, and coordinate placements into private rented or social housing, working closely with Accommodation Resource Officers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage own caseload of housing duty cases.
  • Work with clients to identify barriers to move‑on, such as former rent arrears, benefit caps or maximisation.
  • Assess, update and personalise housing plans for each client.
  • Provide a range of housing options and assist clients in removing barriers that prevent a move from temporary to settled accommodation.
  • Collaborate with Accommodation Resource Officers to nominate households for private rented or social housing.
  • Participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Conduct home visits across the borough, including to prisons, hostels and hospitals, as required.
Qualifications
  • Understanding of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and experience working with vulnerable people.
  • Robust knowledge of the causes of homelessness and interventions available to relieve homelessness.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with an ability to demonstrate empathy and client‑focused communication in accurate spoken English.
  • Strong computer and IT skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the borough for client visits.
  • Experience working with chaotic individuals or lived experience of homelessness is desirable.
Working Hours & Arrangements
  • 37 hours per week, based at Trinity House.
  • Hybrid working arrangements: at least two days a week on site, with flexibility to work from home up to three days.
