HLTA – Intervention Support Room Lead

Location: Lewisham

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Start: January 2026 | Long-term / Permanent Opportunity

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Lewisham is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to lead a newly established Intervention Support Room.

This informal Resource Base supports Year 7 students within a mainstream setting who are working at Key Stage 1-3 academic levels and/or present with significant social communication needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering tailored interventions that promote both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver structured interventions for students with complex learning and communication needs
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports individual progress
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement personalised strategies
  • Monitor and report on student progress, adapting approaches as needed
  • Support the wider school community in promoting inclusive practice
Candidate Profile
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience supporting students with SEND, particularly social communication difficulties
  • Compassionate, adaptable, and proactive approach to student support
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
