History Teacher - Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire

Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
Start Date: October 2025 (or sooner if available)
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent or Long-Term Supply
Salary: MPS/UPS - Competitive, dependent on experience

We're looking for a capable and engaging History Teacher or Humanities teacher to join a busy and vibrant Academy in Welwyn Garden City from October 1st. This is a role supported by a well funded MAT with options for a temporary contract in the first instance before progressing to a permanent contract for Jan 2026. Tradewind Hertfordshire Secondary is supporting a well-regarded MAT to source a History Teacher for one of their schools in Central Hertfordshire. This is a full-time post for the duration of the 2025/26 academic year starting October 1st or following the half term, suitable for both experienced teachers and ECTs, with the chance to progress onto a permanent contract from January 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Key Stage 3 & 4 History.
  • Deliver well-structured and upbeat lessons to promote curiosity and inspire an interest in History.
  • Planning, assessment and development within the Humanities department.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Engage in all parts of the school life, including enrichment activities, trips and extra-curricular activities.
What We're Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification OR experience teaching KS 3 & 4 History in the UK.
  • Specialism in History; teachers able to offer 2nd Humanities also welcome with scope for timetabling.
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and the ability to engage students of all abilities.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
