Overview

We are looking for a clinical psychologist who is passionate about working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties to join Tower Hamlets CAMHS. The service is located in a socially and ethnically diverse borough; it includes professionals from psychiatry, nursing, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, psychotherapy and family therapy, and is committed to quality improvement and ongoing development.

Role: Clinical Psychologist in the Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT) at Tower Hamlets CAMHS. Location: Tower Hamlets CAMHS, 18 Greatorex Street, London, E1 5NF. Working pattern: Part-time. Band: 8a. Responsibilities

The post holder will provide evidence-based episodes of care, assessments and treatments to young people with moderate to severe learning disability within a community-based setting. They will contribute clinical psychology expertise to the team, participate in and help develop a broad range of evidence-based interventions (including an established group programme addressing behaviour, sleep, and a neuroaffirmative group for young people with a recent ASC diagnosis), Positive Behaviour Support, ASC assessment clinic, consultation to CAMHS colleagues and schools, and direct work with children and their families.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) and Registration with HCPC
  • Experience of working in CAMHS and/or experience in Adult Services for Autism/ Learning Disability with transferable skills
  • Experience of specialist assessments and treatments for LD/ ASD and behaviours that challenge
  • Experience of risk assessment and risk management
  • Experience of working with children, young people and families in emotional crisis
  • Experience of working with complex networks
  • Experience of outcome measures
  • Knowledge and experience of safeguarding issues and serious mental health problems, including challenging behaviour
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience/knowledge of working in a multi-ethnic community and with interpreters

Desirable

  • Experience of group work
  • Experience of quality improvement and innovative projects
  • Supervision training and/or experience of supervising others
  • Project management or service development

  • Specialist clinical skills in Positive Behaviour Support and behavioural/functional analysis
