Job description

Overview

This post holder will provide a highly specialist service within our Adult ADHD team. Working with neurodiverse individuals from across North West London, this post, located within the Adult ADHD team in Kingsbury, will offer flexible, evidence-based episodes of care, assessment and treatment. The role will involve clinical leadership, particularly of the ADHD assessment and treatment pathway and will include clinical delivery on an expert level. They will provide clinical expertise in the field of Neurodiversity and be experienced in assessment, differential and comorbid diagnosis including experience in the administration of relevant standardised ADHD assessment. The post holder will support the team by managing a delegated caseload of service users with an established diagnosis and treatment plan for ADHD, predominantly by reviewing post-diagnosis at titration and follow up appointments. The post holder will provide review appointments, prescribe medication as necessary and undertake all associated physical and mental health monitoring. The post holder will have completed a recognised qualification in non-medical prescribing. The post holder will work with the Operational Manager and Medical Lead to ensure operational services are effective and will provide frontline leadership to the staff within the ADHD service. This post is externally funded for 24 months.

Responsibilities

• To provide a highly specialised practitioner and non-medical prescribing service within the Adult service and leadership of the ADHD team.
• Provide comprehensive specialist neurodevelopmental assessments of adults with suspected ADHD.
• To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of individuals whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
• Provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to an individual's formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
• To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individuals and to provide advice to other professions on risk assessment and risk management.
• As a non-medical nurse prescriber, you will be qualified and have the experience of prescribing a range of medication that is appropriate for the designated patient group including ADHD stimulant, non-stimulants as well as sleep aids.
• Provide clinical, management, and performance management through appraisals and supervision, including monitoring and supporting the nursing team with re-validation.
• To take part in the Trust Senior Nurse On call rota providing expert advice and support to the Trust on a rotational basis.
• Develop the skills in the ADHD team through teaching, training and supervision.
