Overview

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Special Needs Schools, Wickford

Are you a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new role? Protocol Education is working with specialist SEN schools in Wickford and we are seeking passionate, skilled HLTAs to join their dedicated teams.

Responsibilities

• Leading small group and 1:1 sessions.
• Covering whole-class learning in the absence of a teacher.
• Delivering pre-planned lessons and adapting activities to meet pupils’ needs.
• Supporting children with autism (ASD), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), communication difficulties and complex learning needs.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to ensure every child is given the best opportunity to succeed.

Essential requirements

• HLTA status or equivalent qualification is required.
• Previous experience supporting teaching and learning across whole classes.
• A solid understanding of SEN strategies and inclusive practice.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A patient, resilient and positive approach.

Desirable

• Additional training in behaviour management, Team Teach, or SEND-specific courses.
• Experience in specialist or mainstream SEN provisions.
