Overview

Job Title: Higher-Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Baston House School, Bromley, Kent BR2 7AB

Salary: Up to £26,000.00 per annum dependent on experience (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am-4.30pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Start: October 2025

As part of our ongoing 4-Day Working Week (4DWW) trial, you may work one day less each week (or equivalent hours) while still receiving full-time pay, subject to probationary conditions. Some schools have already implemented 4DWW and others are preparing to roll it out.

About the role:

  • You will support teachers to deliver engaging and creative lessons tailored to pupil needs, helping maximise achievement, independence, and confidence.
  • You will support teaching and learning in individual and small group settings, lead lessons when required, and build positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement.
  • You will contribute to maintaining a strong safeguarding culture and bring a proactive, flexible approach to classroom support and behaviour management.
Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning in line with pupil needs, including leading lessons or groups when required.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons alongside qualified teachers.
  • Promote pupil engagement, independence, and confidence; foster a positive classroom environment.
  • Maintain safeguarding standards and contribute to behaviour management.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status
  • Experience in an SEN/ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) setting
  • Calm, confident, and resilient in challenging situations
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider education team
  • Experience confidently leading lessons or small groups when required
  • Commitment to empowering every pupil to reach their full potential
  • English and Maths GCSE (essential)
  • HLTA qualification (desirable)
