Operations Manager – Mechanical & Electrical Installation
£70,000 – £80,000 plus car allowance or company car.
Responsibilities
- Be an essential part of the site/regional management of a team who will ensure the safe operation and repair of all Mechanical and Gas equipment including compressors and boiler equipment on the site.
- Ensure gas, pressure systems and L8 compliance.
- Although predominantly a "hands‑off" role, the individual will need a very high level of knowledge of building services systems and will be able to undertake planned and reactive repairs when necessary and lead their team from a technical perspective by demonstrative personal technical ability when required.
- Undertake periodic reviews and arrange forthcoming planned maintenance and project activity and ensure adequate labour resources with the correct skillset are in place to support operations at all locations within a defined region.
- Co‑ordinate labour (direct and sub‑contractor) to ensure delivery of the Planned and Reactive Maintenance Service within a defined region, including management of available resources in periods of sickness and holiday.
- Manage the On‑call rota, team absence and annual leave.
- Undertake routine and ad‑hoc audits of both planned and reactive works to ensure high standard of compliance and quality.
- Undertake employee appraisals/performance reviews including identification of training and development needs.
- Monitor site performance of sub‑contractors.
- Responsible with the QSHE team for the upkeep, monitoring, assessment and review of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work / Permit to Work systems.
Main Duties
- Provide technical and professional support to the Maintenance team and to the Client in order to develop a "team" approach.
- Manage employees within a service environment and maximise the performance of your team.
- Undertake training and appointment as an AP in appropriate disciplines.
- Undertake the collection and provision of data related to all estate maintenance operations.
- Maintain formal and informal communications with Client staff members related to service levels and issues.
- Remain flexible with the ability to work under pressure.
- Fully aware of relevant Health and Safety and general legislative matters.
- Responsibility for ensuring compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and site‑specific health, safety and welfare policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- NEBOSH / IOSH Managing Safety.
- HND or NVQ or equivalent in a relevant subject matter.
- Preferably 10 years (minimum of 5 years) experience in building services and plant engineering, five years as a maintenance craftsman preferably within an engineering role.
- Previous appointment as Authorised Person for one or more of the following disciplines: Confined Spaces, Pressure Systems, PTE.
- Excellent communications both written and verbal.
- Computer literate.
Other Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial or industrial maintenance.
- Full and valid UK driving licence.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Good communication and IT skills, with the ability to complete documentation accurately.
