Location: Bedford. Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-6:00pm (40 hours per week). Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience. Earning Potential: £42,000-£48,000 (pro rata for a 48-hour week, including overtime).

A well-established commercial vehicle workshop in Bedford is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their growing team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a rare 4-day working week, providing an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician looking to improve work-life balance while continuing to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, servicing, and repair work on HGVs and a variety of commercial vehicles
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults
  • Ensure all work meets DVSA and manufacturer standards
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT testing
  • Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets, and compliance documentation
  • Liaise with workshop supervisors to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment
Candidate Requirements
  • Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or time-served experience)
  • Proven background in HGV servicing, diagnostics, and repair
  • Familiarity with brands such as DAF, Scania, Iveco, Mercedes, and Volvo is desirable
  • Experience with MOT preparation; IRTEC accreditation is advantageous
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
  • Team player with a proactive, solution-focused mindset
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 is an advantage)
