Job summary

A global manufacturing business in Leyland is seeking a skilled HGV and Plant Technician to conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on vehicles. The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of experience, qualifications in vehicle maintenance, and strong diagnostic skills. This full-time role operates Monday to Friday, offering a competitive salary between £49,000 and £53,300.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with HGV and plant maintenance.
  • Apprentice trained and qualified in relevant technical qualifications.
  • Holds valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence – desirable.
  • Experience in MOT preparation for tractor units and trailers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles to VOSA standards.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
  • Liaise with workshop administrator for vehicle parts ordering.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a HGV & Plant Technician to work at their facility based near Leyland

Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs & MOTs on HGV's, Trailers, Pool Cars & Other Plant to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of mechanical & electrical faults using Texa diagnostic equipment
  • Dismantle, repair/replace faulty components and test the new ones are working safely
  • Liaise with HGV workshop administrator to order vehicle parts
  • Good communication and maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment
Person Specification
  • 4+ Years of HGV/Plant Technician experience
  • Apprentice trained and qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
  • Holds valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence (Desirable)
  • MOT Preparation Experience - Tractor Units & Trailers
  • Previous experience working with HGV's and Plant, basic welding skills, hydraulic & auto electrical skills
  • Hardworking and can work well under pressure in a safe and responsible manner
  • IRTEC Accreditation (Desirable)
  • Loler competence - experience in undertaking loler inspections - LEEA Apply
