Job summary

A global manufacturing business is looking for an experienced HGV Fitter to join their facility near Leyland. The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of experience as an HGV/Plant Technician, capable of carrying out inspections, maintenance, and diagnostics. Key responsibilities include working with various vehicle types and ensuring that maintenance standards are met. A City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification is essential, and a valid HGV Class 1 Licence is desirable. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from £49,000 to £53,300.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as an HGV/Plant Technician.
  • Apprentice trained and qualified.
  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs, and MOTs on HGVs, trailers, and pool cars.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults with diagnostic equipment.
  • Dismantle and repair or replace faulty components.

Performance Objections
  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs & MOTs on HGV's, Trailers, Pool Cars & Other Plant to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of mechanical & electrical faults using Texa diagnostic equipment
  • Dismantle, repair/replace faulty components and test the new ones are working safely
  • Liaise with HGV workshop administrator to order vehicle parts
  • Good communication and maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment
Person Specification
  • 4+ Years of HGV/Plant Technician experience
  • Apprentice trained and qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
  • Holds valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence (Desirable)
  • MOT Preparation Experience - Tractor Units & Trailers
  • Previous experience working with HGV's and Plant, basic welding skills, hydraulic & auto electrical skills
  • Hardworking and can work well under pressure in a safe and responsible manner
  • IRTEC Accreditation (Desirable)
