A leading healthcare provider in Manchester seeks a professional to manage nurse-led clinics for viral hepatitis care. Responsibilities include patient assessment, blood testing, and providing information on hepatitis treatment. Candidates must have strong clinic management skills and a background in patient care. This role offers the chance to contribute significantly to public health outcomes in a collaborative environment.
The NHS in England has an ambition to reduce hepatitis C and hepatitis B transmission to improve public health outcomes, contributing to the World Health Organisation 2030 goals to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat. Public Health England’s strategy aims to achieve elimination by 2030, reducing new infections by 90% and deaths by 65%. Greater Manchester has one of the highest prevalence rates for HCV infection in the UK, with around 17,500 chronically infected individuals, just over 10,000 diagnosed, and only a few thousand treated. The rollout of opt-out testing in Emergency Departments has increased testing and treatment, expanding clinic capacity and workload. The majority of people with hepatitis B are unaware of their infection, underscoring the need to raise diagnosis rates to reduce morbidity and mortality.
This post requires a high degree of autonomy, the ability to manage your own clinic caseload, excellent communication skills, and ideally experience in caring for patients with complex care needs. The post holder will be responsible for their own clinics in a community and hospital setting.
