Job description
Overview

As a Health and Care Support Worker (HCSW), you will be a valuable support to our Clinical teams providing care to our patients. You will work alongside the team carrying out a wide range of tasks and assisting with care to support the needs of patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • General and clinical observations (vital signs) of patients and reporting anything untoward to Registered Nursing Staff
  • Recording of blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiration rate
  • Oxygen saturation monitoring using a saturation monitor
  • Washing and dressing patients
  • Serving meals and feeding patients
  • Helping patients to move and making beds
  • Talking to patients and families; monitoring patient condition
  • Work under supervision to observe, monitor and record patients\' conditions
  • Communicate with patients, relatives and carers
  • Assist with clinical duties and personal care including infection prevention and control, food, personal hygiene and reassurance, comfort and safety
Training and Induction

The Trust will provide a comprehensive induction, including manual handling, patient handling, resuscitation training, infection prevention and control, observations and more.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Substantial recent/current experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Care Certificate based on standards set by NHS England, Skills for Care and Skills for Health (must be gained in a vocational capacity; online certificates not accepted)
  • Demonstrable good standard of numeracy and literacy
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or Diploma in Health is desirable

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to work internal rotations including long days, nights, weekdays and weekends
  • DBS check (most posts) with costs potentially charged to the employee
