A healthcare service provider in Sheffield is seeking a Health Care Assistant to support patient care through various health checks, vaccinations, and laboratory sample management. Salary ranges from £23,874.98 to £24,671.79 annually, based on experience.
An opportunity has become available for Health Care Assistants at Primary Care Sheffield Practices.
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant to work with this forward-thinking service, which provides excellent care and has a passion for improving health outcomes for patients.
The successful candidate will be a Health Care Assistant who, as a minimum, is trained or is able to be trained in venepuncture, BP checks, flu vaccines and simple wound care and training for these tasks can be provided if necessary.
PCS Practices sit across Sheffield and ideally applicants would drive or travel freely as we may need them working in different sites on different days. We are a very friendly and close knit team consisting of GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Clinical Pharmacist, Physio, and other Health Care Assistants and an experienced administrative team. The work is always interesting and often challenging however it is also hugely rewarding. The team is supportive, with excellent and experienced clinical support on site.
In your role as HCA you will benefit from our nurse group meetings and regular educational meetings to support your learning and development. On appointment you will have a short induction into the service and support will always be available when needed from our Clinical Nurse Lead.
JOB SUMMARY Working as a vital part of the practice team, the healthcare assistant will assist
the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Health Checks
Basic Wound Care
Pre Diabetic checks, including foot checks
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs or nurses
B12 injections and flu vaccinations
BP, weight, height checks
Cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment as necessary
Clearing and restocking of consulting rooms
Medical consumables stock control and ordering
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
Helping to raise awareness of health and wellbeing and how it can be promoted
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing
Escalating clinical and safeguarding concerns appropriately.

Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms as necessary
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
