Job summary

A principal contractor in construction is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to oversee sites in North London and Cambridge. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a similar role, proven ability to influence stakeholders, and ideally hold a NEBOSH Diploma. This role is critical for enhancing Health and Safety performance across projects and requires a UK Driver's licence. Competitive salary up to £70,000 with a car or allowance.

Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 per annum + Car or Car Allowance

Irwin and Colton have been engaged by a major Principal Contractor to recruit a Health and Safety Manager. The company has a great reputation for its work in the UK, with a turnover of approximately £1bn. The role covers sites between North London and Cambridge and is critical to maintaining and continually improving Health and Safety performance.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting, advising and coaching contractors to ensure they can achieve the efficient and effective delivery of the Health and Safety strategy
  • Conducting incident investigations to identify root causes and making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence
  • Auditing and reporting on Health and Safety performance
  • Constantly assessing opportunities for Health and Safety improvements and sharing best practice across the organisation
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a Principal Contractor / Tier 1 construction organisation
  • Experience operating at site influencing and engaging key stakeholders
  • Ideally hold a NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ5 (or equivalent) and Cert IOSH status working towards chartership
