A prestigious not-for-profit with a proud legacy are looking for a Deputy Director of Finance to help guide the finance team and shape its financial future.

This is a senior leadership role at the heart of the organisation. You’ll lead a talented Finance team, partner with colleagues across departments, and bring clarity and insight to the decisions that influence long-term sustainability and impact.

From financial planning and reporting to systems improvement and capital investment, your work will be instrumental in ensuring the business remains resilient, forward-looking, and aligned with its values.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a Finance team including four direct reports
  • Drive financial strategy, planning, and forecasting aligning with the business’ goals
  • Manage cashflow, treasury, and capital investment decisions with rigour and foresight.
  • Lead the annual planning and budgeting cycles working closely with budget holders
  • Champion systems and process improvements, with a focus on automation and efficiency.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, providing clear, insightful financial analysis and risk reporting.
  • Oversee statutory accounts, audit, and compliance with tax and regulatory frameworks including VAT and Gift-aid
What we are looking for
  • A qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with senior-level experience
  • Strong technical knowledge, including Charity SORP, VAT, and Gift Aid.
  • A track record of leading finance functions in complex environments, ideally through change.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate financial data into strategic insight.
  • A collaborative, inclusive approach and a commitment to their mission and values.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and ideally experience with finance systems such as Sage
