Job Title: Head of Campus and Student Outcomes
Reports to: Directors of VCAD
Location: On-Site, Borough, London
Salary Range: £55,000-£60,000 Per Annum
Hours: Full Time - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (with occasional evening and weekend working as reasonably required)
Job Overview
The Head of Campus and Student Outcomes - Borough provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning while driving student outcomes. This role involves oversight of academic performance, operational management, compliance with regulatory standards, and enhancement of student retention, progression, and satisfaction (KMIs/KMPS). The Head of Campus will work closely with Directors, Deans, and Student Services to achieve campus-level objectives and foster an inclusive, high-performing environment for students and staff.
Key Outcomes
- Meet and exceed campus KPIs, including student retention, progression, and satisfaction (KMIs/KMPS).
- Ensure high-quality teaching and learning outcomes in line with partner university standards.
- Maintain compliance with OfS and other regulatory requirements.
- Deliver campus-level strategic objectives set by VCAD Directors.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
- Work collaboratively with VCAD Deans to monitor lecturer performance, ensuring quality teaching and compliance with academic guidelines.
- Ensure efficient administration of assessments, examinations, marking, and grade reporting in line with academic calendars and partner requirements.
- Conduct or coordinate internal examination boards as necessary to maintain academic integrity.
- Work with Academic Deans and relevant departments to facilitate smooth academic operations.
Academic Duties:
- Coordinate with relevant teams to collect course continuation reports and support tracking of student completion and progression.
- Prepare and present relevant reports for senior management, providing recommendations and local approaches.
- Regularly monitor campus performance indicators, such as attendance rates, retention rates, continuation rates, and assessment metrics.
- Implement VCAD policies and procedures to ensure equitable consistency and compliance across campuses.
- Ensure new campus staff receive appropriate induction into VCAD policies and procedures.
- Regularly monitor the performance of all campus staff and report/feedback to relevant departments, line managers, or SMT as appropriate.
Student Support and Guidance:
- Provide resolution or guidance for escalated student or staff issues in collaboration with Directors, Deans, or Departmental Managers.
- Support Student Services in coordinating induction events and student welfare processes.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with regulatory requirements and industry best practices to inform policy decisions.
- Work with Academic Deans, Directors, and other senior management personnel to facilitate academic and operational best practice.
- Oversee staff recruitment and CPD delivery at the campus level.
Administrative and Operational Responsibilities:
- Oversee all academic activities on campus, providing strategic management and team leadership.
- Actively participate in SMT and committee meetings.
- Perform additional duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the College.
- Manage timetabling and resource allocation.
Staff Management Responsibilities:
- Support strategic VCAD plans at the local level with SMT and line managers.
- Provide leadership and performance management for all campus staff.
- Work closely with Directors, Deans, and SMT to provide guidance, support, and feedback.
Qualifications and Experience3>
Essential:
- Undergraduate degree
- Experience leading and managing teams in an academic environment
- Experience monitoring, collating, and presenting relevant data
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in timetabling, resource allocation, and ensuring operational efficiency
Desirable:
- Experience managing day-to-day operations in line with institutional policies
- Familiarity with working in a regulated academic environment
