Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Head Chef at their boutique, independent Sicilian tapas bar in Rossendale, near Blackburn.

About the company

Our client’s restaurants derives it’s name from the Italian for a “humble place where you can enjoy simple tasty plates of food washed down with good wine and beer or even a cocktail”. Their goal is to continue to bring authentic Mediterranean cooking to the area. It is a family owned restaurant and combines the father’s knowledge of Sicilian street food with his son's deep interest in food and drink. Together, along with the team, they have created simple, bold and delicious Italian inspired dishes.

About the role and responsibilities

The successful Head Chef’s responsibilities will include :

  • Supervising all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
  • Leading the kitchen team, including providing guidance to team members on cooking, food preparation and plating
  • Helping train new kitchen employees.
  • Overseeing and organizing stock, ensuring a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifying all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
  • Ensuring cooking stations are kept clean, especially before and during prime operation hours
  • Managing food and product ordering by keeping detailed records to minimise waste
  • Creating new menus and specials
  • Coordinating with the management team on ordering supplies, budget, kitchen efficiency and staffing
About you

The successful applicant for the role of Head Chef should have / be :

  • Previous experience of cooking with fresh food and managing a kitchen
  • Ability to lead a team of 2 other chefs under intense pressure and produce high-level cuisine

About the hours & rewards

As Head Chef you will receive a salary of £32,000 to £35,000 per year depending on experience. You’ll also receive weekly tips and company dining discounts.
