Support Worker / Health Care Assistant (DRIVER)

Position: Support Worker / Personal Assistant

Job Type: Part-time – Monday to Friday 15:00-19:00

Location: Witham (Close to Chelmsford, Essex)

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and reliable Support Worker to provide one-to-one support for an individual with a range of additional needs. The individual has diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder, hyperactivity, motor coordination difficulties, ADHD, OCD, sensory needs, and global developmental delay. These conditions influence their communication, learning, behaviour, and day-to-day interactions. They have a diverse range of abilities, strengths, and challenges and benefit greatly from consistent, structured, and understanding support.

Responsibilities
  • Provide supportive, person-centred care in the home and community
  • Assist with daily routines, activities, and personal development
  • Promote communication, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour
  • Support sensory needs and implement calming or structured activities
  • Encourage independence while ensuring safety and well-being
  • Collaborate with family members and other professionals as needed
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records when required
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with individuals with autism or additional needs (preferred but not essential)
  • Calm, patient, and understanding approach
  • Ability to use clear communication and follow structured routines
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the individual's unique needs
  • A positive attitude and commitment to enhancing quality of life
Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
  • Relevant training or qualifications are an advantage but not mandatory
