A local healthcare provider in Burton upon Trent seeks a Nursing Associate/HCA to join their team. You will work as a member of the General Practice Nursing team here at The Tutbury Practice, under the supervision of our Practice Nurse Manager, to support the organisation and facilitation of clinical care in a holistic and proactive manner to patients registered at the practice. You will maintain a high professional standard of nursing care in adherence to all Practice protocols/policies & guidelines, as well as provide nursing assistance to the GPs and other members of the primary healthcare team.
Your role of Nursing Associate/HCA needs to be flexible in line with the present atmosphere for change within health service delivery. It is essential that the nursing associate/HCA works within their own level of competency and expands their role in accordance with practice requirements and their own scope of practice. You will be well supported in your role in an already highly effective team.
You will be accountable to the GP Partners and will professionally report to the Nurse Manager and Deputy Nurse Manager.
To assist and perform routine nursing tasks related to patient care,such as Phlebotomy, BP checks, ECG, suture and clip removal, BMI and lifestyleadvice, as directed and agreed with line manager, registered general nurses andGPs.
To support chronic disease management including monitoring patients withstable asthma, undertaking preliminary investigations for Type 2 diabetespatients, such as foot checks.
To undertake the collection of pathological & microbiology specimensincluding bloods, swabs, urine culture in line with local guidelines andensuring sample are ready to be despatched to the laboratory in a timelyfashion.
To provide general health promotion education, advice on nationalscreening programs and guide/refer patients to appropriate services such aswound care, weight management and podiatry.
To undertake adult / child NHS immunisation programmes and ensurevaccines/injections are administrated under patient group directives or patientspecific direction.
In line with national guidance and with recognised competency-basedtraining, undertake screening programs such as cervical screening tests(Nursing Associate).
TheTutbury Practice is a rural GP surgery located in Tutbury, serving patientsfrom nearby areas such as Rolleston, Hatton, and Stretton. Our practice has apatient population of 8,500. Our clinical team includes two GP partners, foursalaried GPs, a clinical pharmacist, a nurse practitioner, and an experiencednursing team, all supported by a friendly and dedicated admin and receptionstaff.

Use appropriate templates in EMIS /Ardens for all procedures, training will be given in this area.
Chaperone and assist patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
To assist GPs with minor surgery and coil fitting.
To maintain effective infection control measures in line with local guidelines and practice policy.
Prepare clinical waste and sharps bins ready for collection and complete appropriate documentation.
Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels within the treatment room and assist with the re-stocking of other clinical rooms as required and reorder of clinical supplies as required.
To participate in developments within the practice and support QOF requirements.
Attend and actively participate in practice meetings as required.
Actively take part in mandatory and internal/external training as requested.
Adhere to and follow all policies and protocols as listed in the Staff Handbook and contract.
Any other duties deemed appropriate.
