Overview

Join RSK Geosciences as a Hazardous Waste Technical Assessor and be part of a team leading responsible waste and resource management in the civil engineering and land development sectors. This role is based in Bristol.

Are you passionate about sustainable waste and material management and turning waste into a resource? Do you want to make a real difference to construction and development projects around the UK?

What You'll Be Doing
  • Work closely with other technical specialists within our team to provide sustainable waste and resource management solutions to our clients.
  • Complete waste assessments and classification of construction, demolition, and excavation wastes in general accordance with WM3 and other related guidance.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, including handling large data sets, preparing technical reports, managing project finances, and liaising with clients.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to undertake sampling, inspection and/or supervision of waste generating practices.
  • Collaborate with other team members to deliver on a broad range of projects and increase knowledge and skills in waste and resource management, including:
  • CL:AIRE DoW CoP Material Management Plans (MMPs)
  • Environmental permits (applications, variations, and surrenders)
  • Waste management plans, environmental management plans
  • Bespoke waste training packages
Who We're Looking For
  • A proven track record in the classification and assessment of hazardous waste.
  • A degree in Chemistry or a Geoscience-related subject (MSc preferred).
  • Demonstrable experience and technical competence in waste classification and assessment in accordance with WM3 and related guidance.
  • Understanding and knowledge of waste legislation and policy in the UK.
  • Experience within the contaminated land sector or working for an environmental consultancy is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, eager to contribute to projects and the wider team.
  • A valid UK driving licence and willingness to spend some working days away from the office and home.
  • Located within an hour of Bristol / Manchester.
