Job description

We are seeking a highly-qualified Hardware Technician to join our team launching, maintaining, developing, and operating an on-premises Helios quantum computer at a customer site. Helios is our next-generation quantum computer with 98 physical qubits and error rates <10-3. This will be our second Hardware-as-a-Service offering following our installation of a quantum computer at RIKEN’s Wako, Japan campus. The ideal candidate will bring their previous experience working with cutting-edge hardware in a commercial or research environment to bear on the Helios system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Launch, maintain, develop, and operate an H-series quantum computer as part of a small team
  • Support the execution of operation and development plans
  • Regular subsystem inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and optimization
  • Remotely operate and maintain cloud-based H-series quantum computers a part of a global team
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience (M.S. or Ph.D. inclusive) in an R&D environment
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate technical topics in English
  • Ability to travel abroad for training or other business needs
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen
WE VALUE
  • Master's degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, Engineering or related technical field
  • 2 or more years of post-graduate experience (M.S. or Ph.D. inclusive) with atomic physics systems, superconducting qubits, or other quantum computing platforms, and constituent tools and technologies including lasers, laser cooling, atom trapping, cryogenics, ultra-high vacuum systems, analog and digital electronics, laboratory hardware control, and Python
  • Demonstrated success coordinating individual efforts to support the collective work of a team
  • Documentation, technical writing, and presentation skills
