Job summary

An education agency is seeking experienced SEN Tutors to deliver one-to-one tuition to GCSE-level pupils in Stockport and surrounding areas. The ideal candidates will have experience with young people facing additional challenges, including anxiety and ASC. Strong subject knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. Flexible working locations and an immediate start are available. Competitive hourly pay according to scale.

Qualifications

  • Competent in delivering core subjects like English, Maths, and Science.

Location: Stockport and nearby (flexible locations)

Role: SEN Tutor

Salary: Paid to scale (per hour / session)

Role Summary

We're recruiting experienced tutors to deliver core subject tuition (English, Maths, Science) to GCSE-level pupils who struggle to access or engage with mainstream curriculum due to anxiety, ASC, SEMH or other needs. Interventions may take place in students' homes, local provisions, or community locations (e.g., libraries).

Key Duties
  • Plan and deliver one-to-one or small-group tuition tailored to student needs.
  • Run catch-up or intervention sessions to address gaps in learning.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to rebuild students' confidence.
  • Adapt pace, style, and content to reduce anxiety and support engagement.
  • Monitor progress and report outcomes to stakeholders.
Person Specification
  • Experience working with young people with ASC, anxiety, SEMH, or complex needs.
  • Strong subject knowledge in the area(s) you will tutor.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, and flexibility.
  • Creative approaches to re-engagement and differentiation.
