Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant: Candidate Specification

We’re on the hunt for a graduate Primary Teaching Assistant who holds:

  • 2:1 or above in Education, Psychology, English, or related subject
  • Strong academic background (GCSEs & A-Levels)
  • Previous experience with children (e.g., volunteering, tutoring, summer camps) is ideal
  • A gentle, kind-hearted personality – with a willingness to learn and get stuck in
  • Passionate about making a difference in children’s lives and pursuing a future in teaching, child psychology, or SEN
Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant: Role Responsibilities

As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils aged 4–11 in class, in small groups, or 1:1, depending on their needs
  • Helping teachers prepare activities, displays, and lessons (with lots of glue sticks and glitter)
  • Playing an active role in reading groups, phonics, arts and crafts, and classroom management
  • Supporting children with additional needs to reach their potential – with training provided
  • Being a role model, listening ear, and daily cheerleader to the children in your care
  • Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral team to support every learner holistically
