Graduate Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer / Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer

Bristol | Full-time (37.5 hours)

Are you looking to kick-start or develop your career in flood risk and drainage engineering? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and respected multi-disciplinary civil engineering consultancy with over 35 years of success.

They are seeking either a Graduate Engineer or an experienced Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer to join their friendly Bristol office.

Responsibilities

The Role:

You’ll play a key part in supporting planning applications across a wide range of projects – from small-scale developments to major nationwide schemes.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Prepare and contribute to Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports
  • Undertake research, report writing, and technical drawing preparation (AutoCAD & InfoDrainage)
  • Support site visits and attend meetings (often alongside a senior colleague)
  • Develop your skills through on-project learning and external training courses
Essential qualifications
  • Strong numeracy, communication, and written English skills
  • A relevant degree (e.g. Civil Engineering, Geography)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
  • Ability to manage your own workload and deadlines
  • A proactive, logical problem-solver with creativity
Desirable qualifications
  • UK driving licence
  • Experience with flood risk assessments and/or drainage design (InfoDrainage)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Report writing experience
  • Understanding of planning and technical guidance (e.g. NPPF, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewer Sector Guidance, Building Regulations)
