Description

Summary: The role of a G&T Project Manager is to manage/lead on the planning and delivery of construction projects.

You will be working within our infrastructure team on projects across the infrastructure sector and supporting a diverse range of clients.

Project Managers ensure that work is completed on time and within budget. They organise logistics, delegate work, provide contract advice and manage project teams. An integral part of Project Management is communication and stakeholder engagement; it is the responsibility of the Project Manager to keep the client informed of project progress and to effectively manage any risks, and delays.

Role Overview:

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will spend 2-2.5 years working towards Chartered membership of RICS or APM (body is at the discretion of the team depending on which projects you are working on) while also gaining valuable work experience. You will be working towards becoming a professional with expert knowledge of leading and managing a project team.

The role will be varied, and the actual experience gained will be dependent on the team and sector you are working in. You will join the G&T Chartership Programme to ensure you can relate the theoretical aspects of your studies to actual work experience.

Working within a team, you will be assisting your Line Manager with various aspects of daily work. In this role you will be expected to work with a certain level of autonomy while also knowing when to discuss and ask questions to ensure the best outcome.

You will be building a solid knowledge base of your role, the firm and the industry, and how they all fit together.

General Responsibilities
  • Preparing project schedules and managing deadlines
  • Taking minutes during project meetings and analysing statistical data
  • Providing client updates regarding project status and following up with clients to understand their needs
  • Managing and keeping up to date project documentation
  • Compiling contract documents
  • Attending site meetings – depending on stage of project either design team meetings or progress meetings with the contractor and project team
  • Working directly with other project managers to help implement project goals
  • Preparing performance and ranking reports and weekly progress updates
  • Assisting in data collection, development and analysis to enable proper decision making and goal setting
  • Communicating with clients to cultivate and maintain good relationships
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of action plans to enable proper time, resource and process management
  • Overseeing variable aspects of projects and providing direct assistance to ensure timely project execution
  • Liaising with project leads and other project managers to maintain the project schedule and efficacy
  • Reviewing project implementation and gathering data on project progress
  • Coordinating with project managers and other project leads following project completion
