Governance Lead – Job Summary (Tier 1 Banking Client)

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Governance Specialist to join the horizontal Governance Function within a Tier 1 banking client’s Application Support team. This role is critical in driving operational excellence through strong process governance, risk management, and sustainability routines across key IT Service Management (ITSM) processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, and Capacity Management.

The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of ITIL practices, experience in governance or production support roles, and a passion for improving process maturity, transparency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and the governance framework across ITSM processes including Incident, Problem, Change, and Capacity Management.
  • Coordinate and maintain risk and sustainability routines, ensuring all reviews, actions, and reports are delivered on time.
  • Monitor and report on process performance, compliance, and maturity across application and platform portfolios.
  • Conduct periodic process reviews, identify gaps or non‑compliance, and drive corrective actions with relevant teams.
  • Prepare dashboards, performance metrics, and status updates for governance forums.
  • Work closely with application and platform support teams to proactively manage risks, issues, and capacity concerns.
  • Maintain governance documentation such as templates, trackers, Confluence pages, and evidence repositories.
  • Support automation and reporting initiatives to increase efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Ensure governance practices align with wider organizational risk, control, and compliance frameworks.
Key Skills & experience
  • 4–7 years of experience in IT operations, service management, or governance functions, ideally within banking or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL‑aligned processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Capacity).
  • Hands‑on experience managing or reporting on risk and sustainability routines.
  • Proficiency in governance and reporting tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Tableau, Excel).
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, stakeholder management, influencing, and follow‑up skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, ensuring consistency and compliance with governance standards.
