Overview

We wish to recruit a 3 - 4 sessions Salaried GP to join our Practice in Deptford, Lewisham. We are a 15,800 patient training practice based in the Waldron Health Centre, a modern, spacious facility in the heart of Deptford, North Lewisham. Deptford is a dynamic, diverse, culturally rich and rapidly changing neighbourhood with pockets of deprivation alongside new developments. We are situated directly opposite New Cross station and within walking distance of Deptford DLR, and Deptford station.

Our practice values kindness, approachability, friendliness and compassion, alongside high standards of clinical care. Our working environment is supportive and collaborative. We are a training practice and have a diverse clinical team including Advanced Nurse Practitioners and an internal Clinical Pharmacist. We also teach medical students and GP registrars. We very much work as a team and encourage and value everyone's contributions, no matter what their level of experience. We have large numbers of students in our population and we have a close link with Goldsmiths University. We are committed to healthcare for all and to ensure everyone benefits we make special efforts to reach out to those patients who society disadvantages. Main duties of the job
  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • The provision of services commensurate with the GP contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to practice and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance
  • Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
Job Summary

The General Practitioner (GP) will act autonomously providing care for patients face to face, telephone consultations and home visits. Working 3 - 4 clinical sessions per week, we are looking for innovative and caring individuals who can demonstrate our practice values. You are interested in supporting and actively participating in the local health community. Above all you will be a passionate clinician, committed to driving general practice within our communities, and take pride in making a difference to people’s lives.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach e.g. root cause analysis (RCA). Refer and signpost service users to most appropriate service for their needs (mental health, physical health, social needs)
  • Work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping
  • Achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development
  • Participate in the audit process, evaluation and implementing plans and practice change to meet patient need
  • Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team and colleagues
