A major healthcare provider in the UK is seeking a dedicated General Practitioner for their team at HMP Dovegate. This part-time position involves delivering healthcare to a variety of patients in a remand prison, including urgent medication support and referrals. The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications and experience in general practice and a commitment to continuous professional development while working in a supportive environment. Salary ranges from £119,140 to £125,693 annually depending on experience.
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Dovegate. HMP Dovegate is a category B remand Prison located in Staffordshire. The prison houses around 1200 patients with a variety of needs, including a number of patients with long term conditions and complex health needs. Within this role you will be working on reception, support with urgent same day medication, duty doctor referrals, leavers medication and substance misuse withdraw programmes. You will work closely with the nursing team and non‑medical prescribers to deliver high quality healthcare services.
Tuesday 8am – 8pm
Thursday 8am – 8pm
Alternate Saturdays 1:30pm – 5:30pm
This position is part time; you will receive an annual salary from £119,140 up to £125,693 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

As a GP you will respond to medical problems presented by patients, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate inline with guidelines and pathways. This includes prescribing for patients, regularly reviewing medications and monitoring repeat prescriptions.
Provide medical leadership and expert advice regarding medical and primary care issues to the wider healthcare team; engaging with the Practice Plus Group wellbeing approach.
Deliver effective patient care, developing high levels of communication with patients; identifying and utilising evidence‑based best practice through benchmarking and clinical guidelines. Undertake appropriate clinical audit to improve clinical outcomes.
Inspire and develop positive collaborative working relationships across the multidisciplinary team; working with the wider team to ensure effective clinical governance is incorporated into day‑to‑day practice.
Promote multidisciplinary discussions around complex case management, ensuring systems and processes are in place for managing results, letters, and tasks. Undertake clinical risk assessments and implement management strategies for risks.
Share and disseminate acquired knowledge with all team members through development sessions and clinical governance meetings or clinical case reviews.
