Job description

We have a vacancy for a HealthCare Assistant to join our friendly team for 3-4 days a week.

We serve a varied population and as our list size has increased by over 2500 in the last two years, we need to expand our current nursing team.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate must be able to perform phlebotomy and carry out ECG's as a minimum.

Willingness to train to carry out wound management and vaccinations under PSD's is essential

About us

Wansford Surgery is a thriving and well established independent Practice serving circa 10500 patients across 120 square miles of rural territory nestling between Stamford and Oundle. We are a highly regarded training practice, with a strong ethos of education and professional development to enable us to deliver the highest possible standard of care.

Our current nursing team comprises two part time practice nurses, a fulltime HCA, a part time phlebotomist and a full time Cardiology Specialist Nurse.

Job responsibilities
  • Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
  • Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
  • Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
  • Carry out BMI checks as directed
  • Undertake venepuncture
  • When trained, administer flu vaccinations
  • Carry out ECGs as requested
  • Undertake 24-hour ECGs
  • Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
  • Provide support during minor operations, coil clinics and Baby Imms clinics as required
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
  • Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
