Directorate of Estates and Campus Services

Full‑time / Permanent

Estates and Campus Services is responsible for the security of the physical assets, staff, students and visitors of the University.

Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Buildings Services Coordinator (Fabric), the post holder will work as part of a team supporting all aspects of Estates and Campus Services including furniture and equipment moves, maintenance and waste, and undertaking Mail Room duties.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of the University buildings as required, on a preventative or emergency basis, ensuring timely work to the campus building fabric including (but not limited to) basic joinery repairs and works, suspended ceiling repairs, graffiti and fly poster removal, floor repairs, tile repairs, signage, roof inspections and gully cleaning, minor repairs, erection of scaffolding and general cleanliness of the campus (e.g. litter picking).
  • Other duties as assigned which will include covering various important events throughout the University year i.e. Graduation, Garden Parties, Exams etc., providing support to the organisers as directed.
  • General inspection and routine maintenance of the University motor vehicle fleet, including transfer of vehicles for repairs and MOTs at local garages.
  • Work as part of a team to collect and dispose of general waste uplifts (excluding that which is managed by the Campus Services Team), and confidential waste collections.
  • Driving vehicles including (but not limited to) company vans, forklifts, etc.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Demonstrable multi‑trade experience in a similar environment or another University.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Able to work for extended periods outside in inclement weather conditions (with appropriate PPE/uniform provided).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.
