Purpose

As a Chair of Examiners at Pearson, your role involves maintaining standards across different specifications and assessment methods, reporting back to the Assessment team. You will serve as a direct contact for the Principal Examiner. Core responsibilities include:

  • Acting professionally and maintaining integrity at all times.
  • Reading all Pearson policies and guidance prior to activities.
  • Respecting confidentiality of centres and learners.
  • Attending meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Adhering to deadlines and ensuring quality of work.
  • Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Having suitable personal IT equipment and internet connection.
  • Communicating timely with Pearson and centres.
  • Raising concerns about malpractice or safeguarding issues.
Role Specific Services and Expectations

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Supporting examination days and providing feedback.
  • Supporting Principal Examiners/Moderators.
  • Reviewing and approving supervisor teams.
  • Attending standardisation and award meetings.
  • Sampling marking/moderation activities.
  • Acting as a senior escalation point.
  • Conducting moderation visits and activities.
  • Standing as Chair for awarding meetings and ensuring standards.
  • Completing reports and reviews post-assessment.
  • Supporting complaint procedures and attending customer meetings.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Experience:
  • Experience in quality assurance and assessment practice.
  • Moderation and/or marking experience in regulated qualifications.
  • Ability to lead and support standards-related activities.
  • Knowledge of your sector's specifications and requirements.
Qualifications:

A UK-recognized teaching qualification for General Qualifications (GCSE/A Level). Proof may be requested upon appointment.
