Role

Gas Service Engineer responsible for carrying out annual servicing, maintenance, repairs and breakdowns on all gas appliances/systems, associated equipment and controls within Gentoo’s housing stock across the City of Sunderland. Our customers are at the heart of Gentoo; therefore, providing excellent customer service is an essential part of this role. The successful candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the Gas Regulations, relevant Health & Safety Regulations, codes of practice and guidance, and experience in gas engineering procedures in a domestic environment. You will communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and wider teams to ensure Gentoo delivers excellent customer service to every customer.

Enjoy reduced working hours during the summer with early finishes at 1 pm and 3 pm. In the winter, you will work until 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Saturday morning work is required, with the following Friday off in return. Training and development opportunities are available to all Gas Service Engineers, including products and the potential for training in renewable energy, air source heat pumps and qualification renewal to support you in building on your knowledge and skills to enhance work performance and achieve professional growth. The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo. A full UK driver’s licence is required.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering high-quality servicing and repairs for gas appliances, systems, and equipment, ensuring compliance with gas safety installations, regulations, legislation, and Gentoo policy and procedures.
  • Adhering to safe working practices in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy daily.
  • Completing work to an exceptional standard, striving for first-time fixes where possible, and handling minor work associated with the job to ensure an excellent customer experience.
  • Maintaining accurate and professional paperwork to reflect your dedication and attention to detail.
  • Providing excellent customer service, embodying our core values in every aspect of the role.
  • Supporting the Emergency Out-of-Hours Service as part of a rota and demonstrating flexibility by working some Saturdays when required.
What we are looking for
  • A full UK driver's license
  • City & Guilds Advanced Craft certificate in Gas Engineering/Plumbing or Heating, OR NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Gas Engineering
  • You must have a current gas competency qualification (ACS accreditation): CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in services, repairs and the installation of domestic gas appliances
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Gas Safety (Installation and use) Regulations
  • Desirable: It's highly desirable that you have certifications or qualifications such as G3 unvented hot water, solar thermal, and non-domestic gas.
