A specialist nursery in Shropshire is seeking a Garden Nursery Supervisor to oversee plant breeding processes and mentor the team. Job role / duties

• Train and mentor the team to ensure high levels ok knowledge and skills
• Monitor and report on performance to highlight areas of training needed
• Engage with the recruitment process and carry out inductions
• Oversee and participate in the plant breeding process such as controlled pollination, seed germination, propagation and trial assessments.
• Ensure all plant care operations
• Support assessments and data collection on new hybrids and report to SMT
• Monitor both glasshouse & field environments to maintain biosecurity and IPM protocol
• Ensure the safe operation of machinery and equipment
• Maintain accurate records of all breeding activity and progress
• Identify issues affecting plant health and report on cause

To be considered for this role you MUST:

• Possess a Horticultural qualification
• Possess experience of team leader / supervision in a plant breeding, horticulture, or nursery environment
• Have a good understanding propagation, greenhouse & field management, and integrated pest management
• Be highly organised and have excellent record keeping skills
• Ideally possess PA1 / PA6 spraying licences and tractor or telehandler licence
• Hold a full clean driving licence
