We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor specialising in English for the Offender Learning Sector. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference and contributing to the educational rehabilitation of learners within a secure environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in English to learners within the offender learning sector.
  • Assess and record learners' progress and provide feedback to help them achieve their educational goals.
  • Develop and adapt teaching materials to meet the needs of individuals with varying educational backgrounds and learning abilities.
  • Collaborate with other educational staff to plan and coordinate educational activities and programs.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment that respects learner diversity.
  • Comply with all institutional policies and regulations related to teaching in a secure environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above.
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Proven track record of effective teaching in English and Maths.
  • Ability to gain, hold, and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire learners.
  • Experience working in challenging environments, preferably within the offender learning sector, is advantageous.
