Job description
Front End Software Engineer

Start: Jan 2026

Location: Remote (must be EU timezone)

Rate: £350-£400 per day (outside IR35)

Length: 4 weeks (possible extensions)

We’re looking for an experienced Front End Engineer to join a delivery-focused product team on a contract basis. You’ll be working on real-world user interfaces where attention to detail, performance, and maintainable code actually matter.

This role suits someone who’s comfortable operating without heavy frameworks when needed, can collaborate closely with design and backend teams, and can drop into an existing codebase without hand-holding.

What you’ll be doing
  • Building and maintaining robust, semantic, user-friendly interfaces
  • Working across modern React codebases while also handling non-framework JavaScript and CSS
  • Creating and manipulating SVG assets for scalable, high-quality UI components
  • Collaborating closely with designers and “speaking design” fluently
  • Integrating third-party APIs and SDKs
  • Following existing patterns and contributing clean, consistent code
  • Supporting frontend build tooling, environment configuration, and deployment processes
  • Reading and understanding backend Node.js code to ensure smooth frontend / backend integration
  • Considering accessibility and WCAG standards as part of day-to-day development
Skills & experience
  • Strong experience with React.js
  • Confident with non-framework JavaScript and CSS
  • Experience with CSS-in-JS (Chakra UI preferred)
  • Solid understanding of semantic HTML
  • Practical knowledge of browser quirks and cross-browser behaviour
  • SVG creation and asset manipulation experience
  • Awareness of accessibility best practices (WCAG)
  • Comfortable working with existing codebases and established patterns
  • Ability to understand backend Node.js logic
  • Experience with frontend build tools and toolchains
  • Familiarity with deployment processes and environments
  • Proven experience integrating third-party APIs and SDKs

If you’re a front end engineer who enjoys clean code, thoughtful UI, and getting things shipped without drama, we’d love to hear from you.
