About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Food Technician to join our friendly and creative Design & Technology department at our secondary school in Tower Hamlets. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, supporting students, and maintaining a safe, well‑organised learning environment.

You’ll play a key role in preparing ingredients, maintaining kitchen equipment, and supporting staff and students during lessons — ensuring that all activities meet the school’s high standards for health, safety, and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, set up, and clear away ingredients and equipment for Food Technology lessons
  • Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety practices at all times
  • Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage storage of materials
  • Keep work areas clean, organised, and compliant with school procedures
  • Support the wider D&T department as required
What We’re Looking For
  • A practical, well‑organised individual with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in a school, catering, or food preparation environment (desirable)
  • A Health & Safety and/or Food Hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above) – essential
  • Awareness of COSHH and safe food handling procedures
  • A positive, proactive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive, and professional learning environment
