Description

V.Ships Leisure is looking for Food Storekeeper on behalf of Azamara Cruises. The Food Storekeeper is responsible to assist F&B Provision Master in the ordering, loading, receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuance of all Food products. Assist the F&B Provision Master in the maintenance of quality and quantity control of food inventoried items. Individual will be responsible to keep the food storerooms clean and organized at all times. Support the inventory team to fulfill and complete all initiatives related to loading and storing of inventoried items.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficient day to day management of the stores department, including, but not limited to, managing, monitoring, developing and training team members, ensuring an efficient and cost-effective provisions operation.
  • Ensuring adequate resourcing of teams, completing appraisals, identifying development opportunities and supporting staff to guide, motivate and direct their respective teams.
  • Managing food, bond, and inventory stores on behalf of the Hotel department.
  • Checking food quality and reporting rejected items to the Provision Master.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping and the issuance of Food and Bar products.
  • Participate in duties related to the ordering, loading, receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuance of all Food and Beverage products.
  • Ensures segregation of goods based on pick lists provided by the Provision Master.
  • Conducts storerooms spot check to ensure items are correctly stored in order to minimize deterioration and waste and to maximize storing and space efficiencies.
  • Assisting Provision Master to identify any physical count discrepancies, spoilage, and breakage of Food and Beverage inventoried items.
  • Ensuring the safe handling and storage of meat, poultry, fish, seafood and ready to eat products to ensure the highest standards of food hygiene, food safety and dish presentation at every stage.
  • Liaising with the Provision Master to meet the specific dietary needs of passengers, officers and crew.
  • Responsible for monitoring proper temperatures of all Food storerooms.
  • Identifying and reporting to the Provision Master any receipt discrepancies during the loading process.
  • Assists the Provision Master with assigned duties required by the day-to-day operations of the Inventory Organization.
  • Assisting Provision Master and ensuring the completion of stock takes in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Managing stores routines and rotations in accordance with operational needs and the Maritime Labour Convention.
  • Producing discrepancy reports in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Reporting maintenance defects in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for executing additional responsibilities assigned by Provision Master and/or the Inventory Manager concerning the cleanliness and sanitation procedures.
  • Ensuring cleaning standards and schedules for the storerooms are adhered to and logs maintained in accordance with acceptable Public Health Sanitation Programs and EU SHIPSAN procedures.
  • Ensuring correct stock rotation of food and beverage items according to use by and best before dates (FIFO).
  • Effective delegation of garbage duties to ensure safe disposal and environmental. compliance in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Adherence to the company’s health and hygiene standards in line with the acceptable Public Health Sanitation Programs and EU SHIPSAN procedures.
  • Ensuring the safe operation and working practice of the stores department and any related matters affecting the safety of the ship, passengers, and crew.
  • Informing the Provision Master immediately of any occurrence affecting the safe operation of the ship or the safety of persons onboard and/or the quality of services offered to passengers.
  • Liaising with other departments to ensure safe food temperatures throughout delivery, storage and issuing.
  • Supervising the welfare and discipline of all members of the stores department in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Reporting defects or malfunctions of safety equipment and appliances e.g. expired or empty fire extinguishers, defective fire doors, broken or missing lifejackets, broken fire buttons, safety posters missing, etc.
  • Reporting defective stores equipment and required maintenance immediately to ensure the safe and hygienic operation of the ship
  • Participating in minimum stores manning to comply with the In-Port Manning plan in accordance with international maritime law.
  • Environmental stewardship is central to this role and the entire operation of the ship. This role will engage in, comply with and promote all environmental regulations and policies, actively working with the stores and Hotel team to promote sustainability and protection of the environment in all aspects of life on board.
  • Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.
  • Conducts workstation spot checks to ensure items are correctly stored to minimize deterioration and waste.
  • Assists the Provision Master in supporting and supervising the actions and development of the Assistant Food Storekeeper.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration.
  • At least three (3) years\' experience in inventory, materials, and logistics management
  • Food and Beverage management experience in a large hotel, resort, cruise line, or compatible firm.
  • Knowledge of policies and practices involved in the human resources function.
  • Knowledge of public health standards (USPH) related to storeroom and management.
  • Knowledge of chemical storage guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of computers; proficient in Microsoft Office applications, mainly Excel and/or Access.
  • Employees must complete at least two (2) contracts as Assistant Food Storekeeper.
  • Evaluation must have recommendations from Hotel Director.

  • No disciplinary action on file for the last 12 months.
  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French or German is preferred.
