Overview

$32.64 per hr (inclusive of casual loading) + super

The Role Ventia, in collaboration with the Australian Defence Force, are seeking enthusiastic Food & Beverage team members to deliver exceptional front of house customer service across service areas, dining areas, and bars. Your role will involve customer assistance, bar service, point of sale operations, deliveries on base, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Location & Hours

These casual positions are located at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia. The Mess dining rooms and bars operate daily from approximately 6:00am to 9:30pm, with occasional VIP events extending service until around 11:00pm. We are primarily seeking staff for our Dinner Mess service, with shifts from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, as well as for our three bars, which operate between 1:00pm and 9:00pm. Additional shifts may be available for those with flexible availability. Hours and shifts vary weekly, based on a 7-day rotating roster. There may also be opportunities to work across the other metropolitan and regional sites managed by Ventia.

  • Base rate of $26.11 per hr + 25% casual loading = $32.64 per hr
  • Penalty rates for shifts after 6 pm, weekends, and public holidays
  • Additional allowances for laundry and first aiders (if/when certified)

Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service during daily operations and events, respecting Defence traditions
  • Set up and maintain clean, well-presented bar and dining areas, including buffets, menus, and temperature checks
  • Operate bar services in compliance with Responsible Service of Alcohol standards and licensing
  • Assist with stock management: rotation, restocking, inventory checks, and supply handling
  • Adhere to safe food handling and sanitation protocols; ensure equipment is properly used and maintained
  • Support kitchen operations by delivering meals across various base locations
Position Requirements
  • Prior experience delivering food and beverage services in hotels, restaurants, and high-volume dining establishments. (Required)
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certification (RSA). (Required)
  • Sound knowledge of Food Safety Standards, relevant legislation and statutory obligations

Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
