Overview

Title: Fleet Supervisor/Technician

Hours: 07.00 hrs – 13:00 hrs - Weekend and other hours may be required

Salary: to £15 P/H

Start: ASAP

We need someone to help us through our busiest period to ensure our Fleet remains on the road!

The ideal candidate would have a general understanding of basic vehicle upkeep tasks, such as changing oil, tires, and light bulbs. This position is suitable for a semi-retired or retired individual who is reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while being a team player. The role requires someone who is hands-on and enjoys ensuring vehicles are well-maintained and in good working order, contributing to the efficiency and safety of our Fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of approximately 50 vans at the Edinburgh site.
  • Complete and update fleet check sheets as instructed by the Fleet Manager.
  • Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and comply with legal requirements.
  • Ensure weekly van assessments are completed by the Operations Manager.
  • Assist with in-house driver training programs
  • Perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks.
  • Record driver changeovers in the database and complete thorough vehicle handovers.
  • Document and report any damage, fuel, or valet charges and liaise with Fleet and Finance Managers.
  • Ensure vans are clean and well-maintained, following standards for pay deductions if necessary.
  • Champion safe driving and provide feedback on driver safety scores and incidents.
  • Manage accident reports, ensuring all necessary details and documentation are collected.
  • Keep track of tools, stocks, and supplies for vehicle maintenance.
  • Coordinate servicing, MOTs, repairs, and vehicle hiring/off-hiring with local agencies.
  • Conduct driver training and assessments for new and existing drivers.
Requirements
  • Ideally, a motor vehicle mechanic qualification or strong vehicle maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience in vehicle maintenance/repair, preferably in Rent-a-Car or automotive repair.
  • Ability to assess vehicles for legal compliance and damage.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to report fleet damages clearly.
  • Competence in using PCs, including MS Excel, Word, and email.
  • Valid, clean driving license.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliable, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
