Purpose:
As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the finance functions across six offices, including period reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and other ad hoc duties.
To succeed, you should demonstrate the ability to work independently and confidently with non-financial budget holders from day one. A professional accounting qualification and proven experience as a Management Accountant or Financial Controller with advanced Excel skills are essential.
This is a permanent position reporting to the CFO. The client may initially fill this role on an interim basis for 4-6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the finance team of three, covering purchase ledger, payroll, billing, credit control, and management information.
- Ensure effective alignment of financial and operational processes with strong controls.
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Provide insights into past, current, and forecasted financial and operational performance.
- Complete period-end journals and reports to produce management accounts.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations each period.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process and ongoing review of business performance against budget.
- Support the CFO by providing management information for decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including audits and taxation, within set timelines.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, department P&Ls, balance sheet reports, cash flow statements, and assist with the Board pack.
- Participate in re-forecast meetings and update management accounts accordingly.
- Prepare year-end schedules for auditors and assist during the annual audit.
- Handle payroll year-end returns, monthly payroll submissions, and related queries.
- Manage P11Ds and related queries.
- Prepare and submit monthly payroll contributions, posting onto the ledger.
- Compile quarterly VAT returns, including for Dubai.
- Coordinate with banks and resolve queries.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and automate finance department processes.
- Manage in a transaction-heavy environment.
- Undertake other ad hoc project work as needed.
Skills & Knowledge:
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification.
- Experience in media or communications agency preferred; knowledge of Paprika accounting software is a plus but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills to balance operational needs with financial rigor.

Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 per annum + excellent benefits and a competitive bonus.
