Job description

Hutcheon Mearns are exclusively recruiting on behalf of our prestigious client based in St Andrews for a Finance Business Partner to join their high‑performing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Accountant who thrives on collaboration, enjoys producing financial information to support strategic decision‑making, and is passionate about driving continuous improvement within a complex and dynamic environment.

This is a new role created to add capacity to the team to continue to provide high levels of finance business‑partnering support. You’ll be working with a best‑in‑class finance team in a market‑leading organisation, gaining exposure to strategic and high‑impact systems transformation projects. Salary up to £53,000 + 39 days annual leave and 14.5% employer pension contribution. This is a hybrid role working a minimum of 2 days a week in the office.

Job Opportunity

As a Finance Business Partner, you will lead a small team, working closely with senior leaders across multiple business areas. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll provide insightful financial analysis, shape budget and forecasting processes, and help your stakeholders make data‑driven decisions. This role is pivotal in connecting finance to operations – turning financial information into meaningful insight, challenging assumptions, and supporting planning for growth and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across operational and professional services team
  • Deliver high‑quality financial insight, reporting and analysis to support strategic and operational decision making
  • Lead the annual budget and forecasting process for your business areas, ensuring robust financial plans are developed and maintained
  • Partner with non‑finance stakeholders to improve financial understanding, performance, and accountability
  • Month‑end income and expenditure reporting and variance analysis
  • Preparation of capital appraisals in relation to projects in the capital plan
  • Manage and mentor a Finance Assistant
  • Input into external statutory reporting as required
The Candidate

We're looking for a confident communicator with a strong business‑partnering mindset – someone who can translate the numbers into narrative and build trusted, productive relationships.

  • A qualified Accountant with relevant post‑qualification experience
  • A proven track record of delivering finance business‑partnering within a complex organisation (your role may not have been called "Business Partner" – Management Accountant, Analysts and Accounts Seniors often have these skills!)
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capability
  • Pro‑active, problem‑solving approach and ability to influence non‑finance stakeholders
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Cloud highly desirable but not essential)
On Offer?
  • Salary up to £53,000 with structured pay progression
  • Hybrid working (minimum 2 days per week in office)
  • Generous benefits package, including 34 days annual leave + 5 public holidays, excellent pension and relocation support
  • Access to a wide range of wellbeing, professional development and lifestyle benefits
  • The chance to work within a purpose‑driven, internationally recognised organisation that values innovation, collaboration and excellence
