Location: Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland, UK | Remote/Agile

Overview

We are seeking a Final Mile Commercial Manager to play a pivotal role in strengthening the commercial framework that underpins our courier operating model. This role will act as a central point of control, ensuring consistency, fairness and strong governance across commercial arrangements, while supporting sustainable cost management and operational performance. Working closely with senior leaders across Operations, Finance, HR and Procurement, the Final Mile Commercial Manager will lead a structured, data-driven approach to commercial decision-making in the final mile. You will oversee a specialist team and ensure robust processes are in place to support compliance, transparency and long-term value creation. This is a high-impact role with responsibility for shaping strategy, driving efficiencies and influencing key stakeholders at all levels of the business.

Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the centralised commercial framework for the courier operating model, ensuring strong governance and consistency
  • Lead market and industry analysis to inform competitive, compliant and sustainable commercial decisions
  • Develop and embed year-round commercial strategies that support cost control and long-term value
  • Lead and manage a team of commercial and recruitment specialists, ensuring clear processes are followed end-to-end
  • Ensure all commercial changes are implemented accurately, supported by appropriate documentation and communications
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations relating to self-employed couriers
  • Work closely with local delivery and operational teams to identify risks, challenges and improvement opportunities
  • Prepare reports, insights and recommendations for senior leadership to support decision-making
  • Proactively manage change, ensuring alignment between operational needs and commercial controls
Core Capabilities
  • Proven experience in a commercial, reward, procurement or cost-control focused role
  • Strong understanding of compensation, benefits or commercial structures within complex operating models
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse market data, trends and financial impacts
  • Programme or change management experience is desirable
  • Strong leadership capability with experience managing and motivating teams
  • High ethical standards and a balanced, fair approach to decision-making
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail, Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
    Comfortable working with HR and commercial systems
