Field Technician

Manchester / North Region

£21.00 per hour (Paid via Umbrella PAYE - £591+ take home per week)

Vehicle, phone & fuel card provided plus food allowance, accommodation (when required)

Do you have a background in installing/replacing equipment within retail stores? Are you looking for your next contract role where a vehicle and fuel card is provided and all expenses covered?

My client is a leading services provider to a range of supermarket stores nationwide. Due to ongoing projects they require an individual to join the field team covering the North region to install and/or replace phones in stores. This role may involve working across other sites in the UK.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a retail environment such as on Point of Sale/EPOS or a hands‑on install role in telecommunications or desktop. Basic installation skills are required, but the reporting and documentation of work is very important, so the candidate must have good attention to detail and be professional and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Install or replace phone systems in Tesco stores.
• Report back immediately to the project management team to highlight any issues or discrepancies while on site.
• Liaise with store staff to ensure their daily trade is not impacted during the installation process.
• Work an 8‑hour day (9.5 hours including travel, with 45 minutes there and back unpaid as deemed travelling to workplace).

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with the project management team regarding progress or any issues that arise.
• Happy to travel and stay away when required; reliable and a good communicator.
• Full UK, Clean Driving Licence.
• Recent DBS or willingness to undergo one (free of charge).
• Relevant backgrounds include EPOS Engineer, Store Rollout Engineer, Retail IT Engineer, Desktop Engineer, Telecommunications Engineer.

• Start date estimated 12th January.
• Project length: 3 months guaranteed; likely to continue longer.
• All expenses are covered as well as accommodation (when required) and a vehicle, fuel card, and phone will be provided.
