Fixing snagging/warranty issues in new build homes for a reputable developer in the Croydon area. You will be part of a high-calibre team working for an award-winning contractor with approximately 50 years of experience in the high-quality residential sector in Greater London.

The role of Customer Care Engineer/Field Service Technician involves managing warranty, defect, and snagging requests under new build warranty rules. Responsibilities include fixing issues or supervising contractors to meet contractual obligations and ensure customer satisfaction. Key duties include:

  • Collaborating with Customer Care office coordinators to manage reported issues and assisting staff as needed.
  • Organising materials and additional labour, with approval from senior staff, to ensure effective resolution of issues.
  • Inspecting issues on-site, arranging remedial actions, and addressing latent defects.
  • Attending inspections with clients and contractors.
  • Supervising contractors and engineers, inspecting completed work for quality standards.
  • Communicating with residents to manage issues through to resolution.
  • Participating in client meetings prior to project handover to ensure clarity and confidence.
  • Updating senior staff on issues, documenting actions with photographic/video evidence.
  • Maintaining regular contact with the Customer Care office, providing updates and requirements.
  • Attending inspections with clients and their representatives, as needed.
  • Logging progress on defects and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Providing sign-off sheets for completed repairs.
  • Managing materials and advising on additional actions or works.
  • Supervising contractor attendance and repair strategies, especially for technical follow-up works involving additional costs.
  • Assisting other engineers or parts of the business to complete issues effectively.
  • Maintaining professional appearance and vehicle presentation.
  • Attending training courses to adhere to health and safety policies, including licenses for specific equipment.
  • Participating in investigations of latent defects and executing necessary repairs.
  • Attending team meetings as required.
  • Keeping vehicles clean and presentable at all times.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm, with occasional Saturdays (paid in addition to salary).

You will have

To succeed as a Customer Care Engineer/Field Service Technician, you should have:

  • A recognised trades qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience in completing repair or maintenance tasks.
  • Experience in customer service or warranty repairs in new build housing is advantageous.
  • A full clean UK driving licence.
  • A positive, 'can-do' attitude.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Comfort using step ladders and access platforms.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

You will get

A competitive salary of £45K-£48K, plus a van (not for personal use), and a fantastic package. You will need to provide your own tools, but a trades card will be supplied for purchasing materials, which will be reimbursed.
