Field Service Engineer - SEM / TEM / Electron Microscopy
Are you passionate about developing hands-on engineering skills on industry-leading, highly complex equipment? This specialist technology provider is seeking a well-rounded field service engineer with hands-on experience with SEM or TEM systems and a desire to work with instruments valued up to £2m.
Responsibilities
- Operate from a home office and visit customers to complete new equipment installations, commissioning and user training. Some installations can take up to one week.
- Travel 60% of the time (UK & Ireland), typically 2-3 customer sites per week; travel occurs Mon-Fri and does not encroach on weekends.
- Visit major industry and academia clients (approximately 50% universities/R&D).
- Liaise with customers to schedule service visits.
- Decommission equipment for site relocations.
- Perform routine service and calibration work, plus reactive maintenance, fault finding and problem resolution.
- Work on equipment including hardware and software ranging from £200K to £2m in value.
- Complete service visit reports and manage service tickets, obtaining equipment log files and, where possible, using remote access tools (e.g., TeamViewer).
- When on-site resolution is not possible, organise transport to the client’s Northern service centre for further investigation.
About You
- Hands-on experience as a technician or service engineer working on SEM (scanning electron microscope) or TEM (transmission electron microscope) systems.
- Logical and methodical approach with comfort spending up to 60% of time away from home.
- UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not offered.
